Thursday 10/15/20

Learning Target: Students will be working to create a classroom learning community. Students will know the impact that sports had on race.

QOD: What is considered to be the most popular sport in the world?

Circle: What is your favorite sport? This can be to play or to watch!

Changes Other Than Protests: Students will be researching, and then we will be discussing, the other ways that sports can have an impact on racial injustice other than protesting. We will be talking about Jim Crow laws and how they related to what was going on in the sports world. 

Plessy v Ferguson: Students will be looking up the Plessy vs Ferguson court case. We will then be talking about how that impacted sports. 

Race by Position: We will be talking about how in the NFL, some positions are seen as "black positions" while some others are seen as "white positions." We will be taking a look at this article for more information. https://theundefeated.com/features/the-nfls-racial-divide/
